The Inca Trail is one of the most famous hikes in South America and a top Peru attraction due to its ties with the ancient Inca civilization. The trail winds through the Andes Mountains, leading to Machu Picchu, the legendary “Lost City of the Incas”. If you only have a limited amount of time for sightseeing but are determined to take in these iconic sites, there's no need to worry – travelers have several options for shorter hikes, from one day treks up to four days depending on their preference and time available.
Day 1 CUSCO | CHACHABAMBA - WIÑAYWAYNA - AGUAS CALIENTES - CUSCO
Pick up from the hotel from 4:00 to 4:15 am and transfer to Ollantaytambo, and we will take the train to kilometer 104 and from there we will start our hike along the Inca trail visiting archaeological sites, as well as the various wild orchids along the way of this beautiful short Inca trail; we will have a picnic lunch. After our lunch we will continue along the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, entering through the main gate to the citadel of Machu Picchu (sun gate) we will have unique and incredible views of the sunset. We will be able to take postcard pictures of Machu Picchu, and then we will visit for about two hours the Inca citadel, after the guided tour, we leave Machu Picchu and go down by bus to Aguas Calientes and then take the train back to Ollantaytambo and bus to Cusco ending this experience at approximately 11:00 pm.
