TRIP DETAILS
Our tour to Rainbow Mountain begins very early with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. We’ll drive south for approximately four hours, passing through breathtaking Andean landscapes and traditional rural communities that preserve their ancestral customs. Along the way, we’ll stop in the town of Cusipata to enjoy a typical breakfast.
After breakfast, we continue by vehicle to Llacto, the starting point of the hike to Rainbow Mountain Peru Cusco. From here, we begin a gradual ascent along natural trails surrounded by mountains and grazing lands where llamas and alpacas roam freely, with the impressive Ausangate snow-capped peak dominating the horizon.
The hike to Rainbow Mountain Peru is considered moderate due to the altitude, covering a total distance of around 7 km. Along the trail, we’ll enjoy stunning panoramic views and the peaceful atmosphere of the Andes, taking short breaks to rest and acclimatize.
Upon reaching the summit, we will be rewarded with the incredible sight of the Cusco Peru Rainbow Mountain, also known as the Rainbow Mountain or Vinicunca. Its colorful stripes, formed by mineral sedimentation over millions of years, create one of the most spectacular natural views in the world. There will be time for photos and to fully appreciate this wonder before starting our descent.
Finally, we’ll hike back down to Llacto where our transport awaits. On the return journey, we’ll stop in Cusipata for a delicious local lunch before continuing back to Cusco, arriving in the afternoon after an unforgettable adventure in the Andes.
